9:30 Club CSS Office Party Winner!

Last week I saw an Email saying:

With the economy in shambles, your Scrooge-of-a-boss’ idea of a holiday party most likely involves a cobweb-covered fruitcake left in the office kitchen. Fear not: 9:30 Club and electro-pop Brazilians CSS are here to save the holidays for you and 29 of your coworkers. First, you’ll start off with a private happy hour with free drinks from Budweiser and a sampling of 9:30 menu items. After that, you’ll head to a private VIP viewing area for CSS’s off-the-wall indie rock antics.
Want to win? Simply send a YouTube video link to list_serve@930.com telling us why your office needs this party. Keep the videos funny, but clean, and under one minute. Deadline is Tuesday, December 16 by 7pm. The winning video will be posted in next week’s email blast.

Benjamin Beast

A while back when I was hiring interns for LAI, one demo reel stood out from the rest… and it belonged to Benjamin Beast.

After watching the video, I showed it to the department, prompting my boss to ask “did he punch the fish?” quickly becoming one of his more memorable quotes.

So after trying to schedule an interview I found out that Benjamin was not up for the commute to DC.  But I did find some fantastic videos he created and I might purchase a Showbeast T-Shirt in the near future.

And a side FYI:  If you have a MySpace account or any online presence whatsoever keep in mind it will play a factor when looking for a Job!  Even though Benjamin might have appeared a bit unusual he actually reminded me of myself… I could only imagine what people thought of my first demo reel straight out of art school. The above rule also goes for employers. I went to an interview in Philly a few years back and the interviewer started turning red when I asked him about his side projects.

Anyway Benjamin Beast has one more fan!
